Privacy

Kenspeck is built to need as little of your data as possible. There are no accounts, no sign-up, and no name or email required to play. This notice explains the little that is involved.

What stays on your device

Your progress and statistics live in your browser’s local storage — not on our servers. This includes today’s game, your win/streak statistics, a random anonymous identifier generated on first visit, your catch-up results, and (if you create one) your backup code. Clearing your browser’s site data for Kenspeck removes all of it.

Cross-device backup (optional)

If you choose “Back up my streak”, an anonymous snapshot of your statistics (numbers only — games played, wins, streak, and the score distribution) is stored on our infrastructure under a random code. It carries no name, email, or identifier that points back to you. Anyone with the code can load those statistics, so keep it private. Backups of inactive codes are deleted automatically after a period of inactivity.

Analytics

When enabled, we use privacy-conscious analytics (PostHog, on EU infrastructure) and Cloudflare’s aggregate web analytics to understand how many people play and how well the game retains them. We do not collect your guesses or answers. Analytics are not loaded at all if your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control signal, and analytics may set a cookie or local identifier only when they are active. The game is fully playable with analytics blocked.

What we never do

We don’t sell your data, we don’t build advertising profiles, and we don’t share your statistics with third parties except the infrastructure providers needed to run the game (hosting and analytics), acting on our instructions.

Your rights

Because we hold no account and no directly identifying information, there is little personal data to act on. You can remove everything held on your device by clearing site data. For anything held under a backup code, contact us with the code and we will delete it. Where UK/EU data-protection law applies, you have rights of access, erasure, and objection; to exercise them, contact us.

Children

Kenspeck is a general-audience word game and is not directed at children under the age at which data-protection consent applies in your country.

Changes

We may update this notice; the “last updated” date above will change when we do.
